"The most important thing to us was making the space clean, comfortable, and timeless,” say Polish by Sand Spa founders Megan Richardson and Gretchen Tiernan. “We added a pop of color to the white backdrop with our plush ombré chairs — shades of blue and gray. The oversized, non-traditional chairs were custom-made for our salon to maximize comfort. Gold accents, along with our iridescent pedi bowls, really tied the look together.”

“In the design process we realized that therapists are hunched over 90% of the working day, so it was a great opportunity to change the way we do pedicures,” says Amanda Dempster. “With this setup we are upright and seated in a better position with the help of a saddle stool. From the client’s perspective, they are above everyone, they can see everything, and don’t feel like they are shoved in a corner. And the comfy chairs don’t hurt either! I do have to credit my husband for his input in the design and building the platform.”

“There’s nothing more relaxing than a comfy armchair and twinkle lights while soaking your feet in a sanitary Footsie Bath,” says Kiley Healon. “We wanted it to be more of an experience than the typical pedicure throne most have become accustomed to. Our clients love the sanitary services they receive, and we love pampering them.”

“We wanted to create an inviting and tranquil space with the hanging ferns and floral accents, but we kept comfort front of mind in the layout and seating so that our clients could relax while getting their treatments done,” says Liezl Da Silva.

“We chose to design the pedi stations at our second location with a more contemporary, unisex look and feel as we do more treatments on both male and female clientele at this location,” says Da Silva. “The booths are divided with custom-made curtains so that a little privacy is an option for guests coming in alone to unwind, but they can be drawn back for clients doing treatments together.
