Michelle Won (@califreenails), known for groovy nail art, is no stranger to “California Cool.” As an expert in emerging nail techniques with a passion for bold and psychedelic styles, Won’s manis are detailed, graphic and down-right far out.

“Currently, I am interested in looking at the different fashion and furniture trends from the ‘70s including bold florals, mod silhouettes, prints and more,” Won explains, revealing where she gathers inspiration for the colorful looks in her feed. “I also love looking at my fellow nail artists and technicians for inspiration.”

Won says: “I am really in love with La Fleur because it mixes joyful florals with abstract patterns. If you wanted to create a similar design to La Fleur, the steps are easy:

1. Apply a base color of your choice.

2. Paint a cute, five petal flower design on your base.

3. Use a white nail lacquer for the abstract squiggles.

“Remember to just have fun and let your brush flow!” Won says. “My best advice is to play with colors. If you start with a neutral base, it is easier to experiment with colors and add in different shapes. Give yourself a blank canvas then let your brush go with your imagination.”
