It’s become something of a habit for us during trade shows to stop nail techs in their tracks and accost them with questions. Lucky for us, nail techs love to talk and share their experience with us. The Las Vegas Hair & Nail Conference was no different. This time, we thought we’d make the questions a bit more fun and asked: What’s the best and worst part about being a nail technician? Here’s what a few nail techs had to say.

Sher Kruger, Those Nails Brookfield, Wis. - “Just being a nail tech in generals is fun, I love my clients and the fact that I can walk to work. I just wish I would’ve done this years ago. I was 36 when I started going to nail school.”

Jennette Lapiana, Carmen Glover, Roni Josef, Las Vegas - “We don’t like babysitting clients like having to remind them of their appointments, for example. We love being creative. It’s fun to transform hands. It’s never the same thing twice."

Francince Milbun, Bodyworks Salon & Day Spa Canmore, Alberta, Canada - “The best party about my job is definitely my clients. I love them - they’re the greatest. What gets to me are clients who don’t come back for a fill.”

Dee Siess, MJM Institute of Cosmetology Grand Junction, Colo. - “The great thing about a nail tech is you can always take a situation and make it positive. Being a nail tech has also made me realize that I’m a businessperson. I used to be shy and doing this has forced me not to be so bashful.”

Adela Mares, Irene’s Hair Design, Albuquerque, N.M. - “I love doing acrylics the best. I think doing plain manicures is boring. I’d love it if I could do acrylic nails all day long.”
