Glamour’s beauty expert Andrea Pomerantz Lustig recommends getting gel manicures only once in a while, as the removal process can leave nails weak after lots of filing and acetone soaking. The other downside is that the UVA light used to bond the gels has some dermatologists worried about the potential increased risk of skin cancer. “My bottom line: I’ll do gels occasionally, but only after a hand massage with SPF lotion,” says Lustig. Try CND's Shellac for a manicure that lasts like a gel but comes off in just 10 minutes.
