Glamour’s Beauty Pop Quiz says cutting cuticles is bad for nails. Doing so can cause painful hangnails or infections. Manicurist Elsbeth Schuetz suggests pushing cuticles into place with an orange stick instead, and then soothing them with Vicks VapoRub or olive oil.
