Linda and Jim Nordstrom
If you know anything about the history of the nail industry, you know the name Nordstorm. Now Jim Nordstrom, cofounder of CND, is back in the business along with his wife Linda Nordstrom, another CND veteran. They’ve named their new company Famous Names LLC and have introduced a new top coat and base coat called Lumos to the market.
We asked Linda Nordstrom a few questions:
NAILS: What prompted you to re-enter the nail business at this time?
Nordstrom: We looked at the nail industry as a whole and analyzed niche areas we felt were neglected either in formulation or marketing emphasis. When we looked at the top and bottom coats in the market today, we had our answer — they are outdated in formulation and ignored by the leading companies. Also, it has been 10 years for Jim and 15 years for me since we left CND and we missed the manufacturing side of the business; it’s fun, challenging, and this industry is the best, so we wanted back in!
NAILS: Why the name Famous Names?
Nordstrom: Every product we introduce must live up to our company name. It must be best in its class and thus be a “Famous Name” to our customer.
NAILS: What’s unique about Lumos base and top coats?
Nordstrom: We have simpler formulas utilizing updated technologies. The result is Lumos High Speed Top Coat, which has superior product performance for the professional technician. It applies smoothly and evenly, dries amazingly fast, and has a beautiful long-lasting shine. Lumos Instant Impact Bottom Coat has a superior bond to the natural nail and to the polish or top coat layer above it, and it dries faster than any we have tested on the market. The other notable attribute is absolute color stability. We have bottles of our formula that are five years old that are as clear as water in the bottle and on the nail.
