Orly educator Christi Oster says, "Pull apart a cotton ball; saturate each piece with acetone remover and place over nails for a minute. More liquid gets on nails than with thick cotton."

To prevent this, prep nails with a nail thickener or use a water-based polish, like Sula Paint & Peel Duos, the magazine says.
