InStyle magazine asked three nail artists for their best holiday design in the December 2012 issue.

1. Fleury Rose's Snowfall: After applying a base coat, paint on two coats of a black polish with silver sparkles. Wait three minutes, and then add a coat of silver glitter polish to the top third of the nail.

Wipe excess of the brush and stroke sparkles toward the cuticle to create gradient. Wait 10 minutes. Using a white nail-art pen, draw on a French tip, as well as the snowflakes.

2. Jin Soon Choi's Diagonal Ombre: Start by painting the entire nail with the lightest red polish, then add subsequent gradations (wait three minutes between coats).

Position the second swipe of color just above the midpoint of your nail. Finish with the darkest red on top.

3. Kimmie Kyee's Metallic Moon: First, paint the entire nail silver. Once that coat dries, take a glitter polish and sweep it in an arc to create the moon shape at bottom. Repeat with a second coat.

Using a nail-art0brush dipped in different metallic, outline the curve. Kyee used Orly's Halo.
