Award-winning filmmaker Adele Pham delves into the salon world in her new feature-length documentary #NailedIt: Vietnamese & The Nail Industry. The documentary was funded in part through a campaign on the crowdfunding website Indiegogo. “#NailedIt follows the nail industry from its earliest days and tells the story of how a chance encounter between 20 female Vietnamese refugees and actress Tippi Hedren in 1975 changed the face of the trade and industry, once exclusive to the jet set,” says Pham. “We are compelled to tell this tale of how Vietnamese nail salons are a linchpin between different cultures, Vietnamese economic autonomy, and a classic American dream story. Through this unique point of view, we can spotlight health disparities that are prompting changes in nail industry practices.”

A chance encounter between 20 Vietnamese refugee women and actress Tippi Hedren in 1975 propelled the growth of the Vietnamese nail industry in the U.S.
The estimated release date for the documentary is April 30, 2015, the 40th anniversary of the Fall of Saigon.

#NailedIt’s executive producer Adele Ray, producer/director Adele Pham, co-producer Kelvin St. Pham, and NAILS’ own Kim Pham celebrated a successful day of filming.
