NAILS editor Hannah Lee (with an adorable manicure by Cammy Nguyen) holds the Maggie Award for Best Publication Website.
The Maggie Awards are given out to the best magazines published west of the Mississippi but you could probably have heard the whooping and hollering even east of the Mississippi on Friday night, April 26, as NAILS took home two Maggie awards: one for Best Publication Website and Best Use of Social Media. The awards have been going on for over 60 years and are highly coveted among publishing professionals.
Accepting the award for the NAILS team, editor Hannah Lee said, "It's awesome to be honored for our online efforts especially since it truly takes every single one of us to make our sites and social media platforms so successful and, even more importantly, THE places to be if you want to know anything about nails." Hannah was joined onstage by lead software developer Miljan Mihajlovic, who has been leading the web team to develop a site that is setting records for performance.
Hannah called out Beth Livesay, NAILS' new web editor, in accepting the award for best use of social media. Beth was hired last year to focus on NAILS' social media efforts and to edit our newest publication, the all-digital Nail Art Gallery Magazine. Hannah was accompanied on stage by David Broyles, who the team affectionately calls "the Pinterest Master" because of his efforts to build NAILS Pinterest boards, focusing extensively on Nail Art Gallery. The social media award honored the full social media efforts of NAILS, including its extensive Facebook community and Twitter followers.

"The awards are amazing," said Hannah, "but it's the readers of NAILS and the visitors to NAILSMag.com who are the real winners. We stay on our toes and continually innovate for the sole purpose of serving the professional nail industry."
