Teen Vogue, in its June 2012 issue, recommends four fun and easy nail art designs for summer.

1. Checkers - Section nails into perfect quadrants, draw a cross on each nail with an ultra-fine brush. Fill in with regular polish brush.

2. Silver Tips - A chic twist on an old favorite. Think French manicures with silver or gold tips.

3. Fading Glory - Also referred to as ombre nails. Using three polishes, apply the darkest shade on the bottom of the nail, then the medium one in the middle, and the lightest at the tips last. Overlap each coat a little. Finish with a topcoat to lock in the design.

4. Flowers - Use a toothpick dipped in polish to make detailed patterns like flowers on the nail. Make sure the base color is completely dry before drawing the petals.

The magazine recommends the following polish shades for your art: CND's Copper Pearl and OPI's Nothin' Mousie 'Bout It.
