Nail tech Amber Bateman of Z-Hills Nail Salon in Zephyrhills, Florida, has pledged to donate all tips she receives over the next two weeks to disaster relief efforts for victims of Hurricane Harvey. Bateman says that she was motivated to start this challenge, which she calls #nailtipsfortexas, after seeing news coverage of the devastation the hurricane has caused. Being from another state on the southern coast of the U.S., she realized that the victims of this disaster could have easily been herself and her community. “The Texans devastated by Hurricane Harvey are our fellow Americans, loved ones, families, and friends, and they have suffered such a devastating blow. If a similar situation arose for myself and my loved ones, I would hope there would be people out there who would help us,” Bateman says. She asks all nail techs to consider doing the same. “Two weeks of tips from nail techs all over is a very small sacrifice compared to what so many Texans are going through. I am totally devastated for the people of Houston.”
