According to Good Housekeeping's March 2013 issue, it's always good to remember the power clear polish has around the house. If a shirt button is hanging on a thread, drop a bit of clear nail polish on the button's center to prevent the stiches from fraying over time.

What's more, a drop of clear polish can keep eye-glasses screws in place and prevent irritation if coated on the backs of earring posts. Dip the unraveling ends of shoelaces in polish to seal them, and lastly, use polish to stop runs in pantyhose.
