The New Luxury: Funky Polish

According to Glamour magazine's March issue, the ideal new luxury item is "funky polish." They list gold and purple as hot colors for spring, and say, "We're not suggesting you wear one color on each hand (though our model was up for it)." They show OPI nail lacquer in Eiffel For This Color (the majestic purple) and Tracy Reese for Sally Hansen in Tassel (the golden hue).

For a how-to, the magazine explains: "File nails down to just beyond your fingertips. It's the now length and it also prevents nail-caught-in-the-keyboard trauma. Move the file in one direction (no sawing!) for snag-free tips. Start with a base coat, then apply color like a pro: a stroke down the middle, and one on each side. Finish with top coat to smooth away smudges. You'll get a good week out of this mani; glimmery polishes last longer than matte ones."
