Three Easy Nail Designs by Sophy Robson

Nail tech and founder of the popular blog NailPorn, Sophy Robson created three easy nail designs and invites you to try them out. How-to's are featured in Allure magazine's March 2013 issue.

1. Modern French: Robson uses a neutral-colored polish for the base and a neon shade for the tip. To prevent the two hues from blending together, make sure the base is dry before you add the second polish on top.

2. Tie-Dye: Grab neon pink, bright yellow, turquoise, and fuchsia polishes and a long, thin striping brush. Then paint the whole nail neon pink. Let that dry, and use the striping brush to add dashes of the other colors. To diffuse any hard lines, rapidly pat the just-striped-on polish with your fingertip as you go to soften the edges, and finish with a top coat.

3. Dots: Make your own tool by pushing a straight pin into a pencil eraser or purchase one with a different-size ball on either end at a beauty-supply store. Brush on a single base-polish color and wait for it to dry completely. Then gather up as many colorful shades as you like to do with, and add them one at a time. For spring, Robson likes pastels but recommends a white, black, or nude background to make nails stand out.

Robson's standard nail kit always includes: Tulip Beads in a Bottle in Pearl, Chip Skip by OPI, Deborah Lippmann's Let's Go Crazy, Mermaid's Dream and Happy Birthday, in addition to a few nail charm and a file.
