Shape magazine tells readers how to prepare for a trip to the nail salon, and what to do after. A nail tech tells the magazine she wishes clients would stop asking her to cut cuticles and shave feet. She recommends that clients ask for chemical exfoliating treatments, or to try a foot mask and foot file at home to keep those feet callous-free.

She also recommends not shaving the day of a pedicure and applying a top coat daily after an appointment to prevent chips. Editors suggest OPI RapiDry Top Coat.
