Effective January 1, 2019, Vermont H 684 reduces the hours of instruction required for nail technicians from 400 to 200 hours. Hours of instruction are also being reduced for other beauty industry professionals: Cosmetology from 1,500 to 1,000; barbering from 1,000 to 750 hours; and esthetics from 600 to 500 hours.

In Tennessee, a recently enacted law (SB 797) authorizes cosmetology, manicurist, esthetician, and natural hair styling licensees to practice in a customer’s residence, short-term residence, or place of business.
