NAILS: What do you think will be a common request in 2021?

DAISY KALNINA: Simplicity will be one of the key themes of 2021. Clean manicures never go out of style, but I think this year in particular the requests will focus on nicely finished and natural-looking nails with clean cuticles. Think short, think slightly rounded square or soft almond filed to perfection. As we’ve seen in the LFW SS21 shows, minimal and au naturel looks are really dominating the catwalk and I believe this will be the trend of 2021. Less is really going to be more this year and both The GelBottle and Peacci has an amazing range of colors and tools to achieve the look.

NAILS: It’s tough to hone in because nail styles are so varied but if you could guess what do you think will be one or two big trends?

DK: With everyone needing a positivity and energy boost in 2021, I see neon French tips taking over the Spring / Summer season along with candy colors and sorbet shades that will brighten up those post-winter manis. Simple color combos with added accents like glitter or thin lines will be the vibe as we transition into next season. Continuing growing in popularity this year will be abstract and negative space designs like the one you see in my Valentine’s Day set. This indie trend has really taken over the industry incorporating minimalistic art in a dynamic and bold way. Seen on many influencers and celebrities this year, I think this trend is here to stay.
