Using appointment data from 2022, salon and spa software company GlossGenius has investigated how certain services increased in appointment popularity in the months of September, October, and November compared to the preceding five months of April through August (”warm” months). The months of December through March were not used given the objective of describing the seasonal change from warm months to cooler fall months.
Appointment popularity is defined as the number of appointments with a given service name (such as “Elderberry Facial”) as a share of all appointments booked with GlossGenius across the same dates. See the trends below:
Services related to the autumn season, such as elderberry facials, increase significantly in the months of September, October, and November. GlossGenius also saw increases in some thematic services like specialty makeup.
Services Including Fall Appointments % Difference
Elderberry: +1648.56% (+16x)
Pumpkin Facial: +1042.67% (+10x)
Specialty Makeup: +198.05%
Nail art services increased significantly in the months of September, October, and November. This may be tied to seasonal special events like back-to-school and holidays, including Halloween and Thanksgiving.
Services Including Fall Appointments % Difference
Nail Art: +17.73%

GlossGenius
GlossGenius found that several services related to darkening hair become much more popular during the Fall months.
