This week’s challenge is sponsored by Bio Seaweed Gel, who are launching a fall/winter 2014 color collection called In Too Deep. As a tribute to this nautical color collection, we asked our Top 11 to create a set of 3-D gel sculpted designs on five nail tips. We’ve posted their entries on the Week 2 Challenge page.
Challenge 1 sponsored by Young Nails asked our contestants to come up with their own personal caption or motto and to create a mural on 10 nail tips reflecting that caption. They were to include the text and an artistic interpretation of their caption.
This week’s challenge is sponsored by Young Nails, who recently launched a new long-lasting polish called Caption. As a tribute to this new line, we asked our Top 12 to identify their own personal motto/caption (like Young Nails’ “It’s All About You.”) and illustrate it on a mural of 10 nail tips. We’ve posted their entries on the Week 1 Challenge page.
Our judges will be looking over the entries with a fine tooth comb and scoring our top designs and our least favorite designs. We also want to know what you have to say. Vote for your favorite artist to make sure they stay in the competition. (You can vote one time per contestant each week.)
Voting will be open until Thursday, September 11 at 12 PM PST. We’ll announce the results of Week #1’s challenge (the winner and who is eliminated) on Friday, September 12.
Don’t let your favorite nail artist go home! Make sure to vote and tell all of your friends to vote too!
We asked our finalists what it meant to be named the Top 12 in NAILS Next Top Nail Artist competition. Here are their verbal and artistic responses.
We had 24 viable semifinalists ready to compete to be named NAILS Next Top Nail Artist. But since there can only be 12, we gave them a pre-challenge so they could get a taste of what this competition is all about. Six would be eliminated and 18 would remain in the running.
For their first assignment, the top 24 were asked to create a 3-D design on a single nail tip using a variety of nail products based on music. In addition to the nail art, a video also had to be included. The video should show examples of inspiration and give insight into how their nails were created.
The applications came in for NAILS Next Top Nail Artist sponsored by CND. We excitedly read through every answer, watched YouTube video diaries, gazed in awe at nail art photos, and scoured social media to narrow it down to the Top 24.
These 24 nail artists come from around the world, representing Greece, Canada, Australia, and the United States as they prepare to compete for the ultimate prize. You might recognize a few familiar names on this list, as we welcome back two semifinalists from last year, and even one of our Top 6.
