Agony of De “Feet”

This week in school we learned about pedicures. Pedicures deal with the feet. Yes, the feet (don’t cringe, it will be OK).

We began with the theory portion of the lesson. Theory is when we review the chapter; learn about the products, implements and equipment, etc. The theory part was no problem — it was the practical part that worried me.

I don’t mind feet, I mean they don’t make me cringe as they do some people. I knew what I was getting myself into when I decided to become a nail tech. Not everyone is going to have the feet of a God. I get that. But I did expect people to at least take care of their feet. Boy was I wrong.

Anyhow, we had to begin working on our “models” (models = the other students in the class and at the university). Nervously, I did my first authentic pedicure and it came out well (my instructor said so!). I did, however, realize that I am a perfectionist. I don’t like ANY polish on the skin or to appear to be on the skin. I am the type of person who has to get ALL my steps right and in order. Because I am this way it took me a little longer to complete my pedicure service. And by a little I mean over 15 minutes (YIKES).

So I know I need to speed it up — my instructor says it should only take 45 minutes to 1 hour for a spa pedicure and 30 minutes for a basic.

The good thing is I am no longer nervous about performing pedicure services. GO ME!
