Blueprint of a First Year

New Facebook Page and Other Salon Marketing Strategies

These last few weeks I've focused on getting new promotional materials done for my business and getting my name out into the general public. My website has been fully updated, and I have a new Facebook page for my business as well. My new business cards with matching gift certificates have just arrived in the mail, and I look forward to passing them out and leaving them at other local businesses with incentive coupons to bring in the employees of those businesses.

I recently donated a massage and a pedicure to a local fundraiser that I made a point of attending, hoping to start generating a healthy buzz. Both items sold for what they are worth, which was good. The women were excited to bid on them. I wished I'd donated one more pedicure just because they did sell so well.

The last few weeks I have been so busy with clients that I was really unable to get some much needed things done for my business. I have a slow week this week as the month is winding down, and after dealing with some personal issues, my business and my next marketing moves are on the horizon. I am considering doing a Facebook ad after reading the article on them in the latest issue of NAILS Magazine. I have also realized that it is time to start taking credit and debt cards again and I am planning a phone upgrade so I can get the Square. After doing my own research and talking to my clients, I've decided Square will be a great investment for me and will help me reach out to more clients who don’t want to use checks anymore and dislike carrying cash.

I've also placed an order with one of the local high school’s football teams to have a banner that will be displayed during home games this fall. I also get ad space in their program that will run throughout the season.

I recently had a fun evening with a good friend that involved some much needed girl talk and a pedicure that she was very happy to leave with! I feel that I am off and running in this new year and I am very happy that made the decision to get my manicuring license after mulling it over for so long. My clients are grateful to come to someone that they already know and trust and that is reflecting in my appointment book!
