Prescription Genadur Treats Brittle Nails

by NAILS Magazine | September 23, 2011 | Bookmark +
Up until recently there was little reason to send your clients with fragile, brittle nails to see the doctor. But now there is a brush-on prescription option available to help strengthen nails that are brittle or splitting called Genadur.

According to the manufacturer, Medimetriks Pharmaceuticals, Genadur helps improve these conditions with a once-daily brush-on application that can start showing results in as little as 14 days. It’s proven to strengthen fragile nails, improve nail appearance, reduce nail splitting, and avoid damage caused by nail solvents.

While brittle nails may sometimes be the result of exposure to solvents in nail products, they may also be the symptom of an underlying medical condition, such as psoriasis and fungal infection.  “While the underlying conditions leading to brittle nails need to be treated, Genadur is the first product that can restore the nail, both improving its appearance and protecting it from further damage,” says Robert Marinaro, M.D., a board-certified dermatologist.  “With studies showing a 90% improvement in nail fragility after 14 days and an 85% reduction in splitting, patients with fragile and splitting nails have a solution for managing these frustrating conditions.”

Genadur is used once daily, preferably at bedtime, and can be washed off with water in the morning.
