Blueprint of a First Year

Hunger Games Collection a Hit

On my last blog update I was talking about the option of moving back into a renter position. I have decided not to do that. I love my office hands down. I am just not willing to go backwards. I love where my business is going, and I own this business. I really don’t want to work in someone else’s space. I want to work in my space.

Speaking of my space, it's time for spring cleaning. Next week I am going to shampoo the carpets and everything is getting a once over with a fine-tooth comb. I do regularly clean my office and at least once a year I clean out and throw away or give away unused or expired products. It’s amazing what you can accumulate. Nail polish no one is interested in trying ends up being given away to clients, donated or put in gift baskets. Facial products I couldn’t use find happy homes with my girl friends, samples of products I can’t use get given as thank you gifts. Oh, and that body scrub I got a rash from? That went straight into the garbage.

Earlier this month I purchased the entire Hunger Games Collection from China Glaze. I was super excited about it, but I really didn’t expect my clients to be as stoked about it. I always have people asking me if I was going to be getting one collection or another, or inquires for specific colors, but this collection was one that my clients wanted on their nails and they wanted nail art to boot with it. I was happy to accommodate all of them. I couldn’t wait to get them on my nails either. This was the first collection this year that my clients were really buzzing about, and that was probably because most of them had read the books and were chomping at the bit to see the movie.

On a side note, last night I was talking to my husband and we had a conversation that went something like this:

Me: “Oh hey, guess what I found out today?”

Him: “What?”

Me: Seeing that he was engrossed in the TV, I decided it could wait. “Nevermind.”

Him: “No! What? Tell me?”

Me: “Naw, it can wait.”

Him: “No, tell me. Is it about the fall OPI collection?’

Me: *Jaw hitting floor* “How did you know that?!”

Him: “Saw it on Facebook today, Germany, right?”
