In honor of the Golden Globes, Beth and I attended the Colgate Beauty Bar at
Prive Salon, in Beverly Hills, Calif., last Friday. The event was co-sponsored by
Skinny Girl and
Sexy Hair, so an endless supply of champagne and beautiful up-dos graced the room. Of course manicures and pedicures were also offered to make the event a complete pampering party. Nail techs were hired from various local salons and an impressive roundup of polish collections was available for us, which included
Essie's Encrusted and
OPI Liquid Sand.
We waited for our scheduled nail appointments while eating frozen yogurt courtesy of
Lifeway and enjoying the Zen atmosphere of the salon's indoor patio area. I chose Essie's Chinchilly for my manicure with nail tech Holly Nguyen. Three days later it's still chip free! The techs might have seen more clients at this event than they do on a regular work day — nails were a popular service! Nguyen said the most requested color was a gold glitter.
And before we left, we were lucky enough to bump into actress Lisa Rinna! She chose a dark
Orly polish for her manicure and told us it went well with the black Versace dress she'd be wearing to the Golden Globes. Although she visits salons regularly, she confessed that she doesn't usually wear nail polish and just opts for a buff. But she decided to get color this time because she saw another party attendee wearing the eye-catching shade she chose. Rinna also told us that her 12-year-old daughter is a big fan of nail polish. "I let her wear her first set of gels and she loves them," she says. Rinna and her daughters love
Olive & June as well as
Bellacures.
