In May, Colombian nail artist Heidy Aristizabal (better known as “H la Cosedora”) gathered together 500 students in an attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the largest nail art lesson ever. “We reached 500 participants on that day, but unfortunately seven of them were disqualified,” says Aristizabal. “Still, we claimed 493 participants and set a new Guinness World Record.”

The free event was transmitted live on the Internet via Aristizabal’s YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/user/hlacosedora1). Viewers could watch as participants learned four different nail art techniques: designing with a brush, applying Swarovski crystals, using dotting tools, and creating an ombre pattern with sponges.

All the money raised that day was donated to the Tulipan Foundation, a non-profit organization that helps families living in the poorest areas of Bogota by providing educational and recreational programs.
