Students from Bellus Academy helped kick off Fashion Week San Diego with its opening event, “The Art & Beauty Behind Fashion,” September 30 at the Broadway Pier.

Students from Bellus interpreted 2015 spring/summer trends, attracting over 500 beauty and fashion enthusiasts. Bellus Academy’s notable reputation allowed it to garner the coveted spot as presenter for the evening.

"With our academy’s strong focus on experiential learning and our commitment to new innovations, we were able to provide our students with a creative outlet to showcase their growing, top-notch talent,” says Bellus Academy president Lynelle Lynch.

The first segment highlighted Bellus Academy students from all three San Diego County campuses. Themes for the segment included prêt a porter, ah couture, and men’s fashion. Students demonstrated their artistry in hair, make-up, and nail design. The second segment featured five Bellus Academy finalists of the S.T.A.R (shape, technique, action, and results) competition. S.T.A.R. is the advanced curriculum Bellus educators developed to provide cutting-edge online education to cosmetology students. The final segment was a presentation of Bellus’ professional team sharing their interpretations of beauty for spring 2015.
