Multiple salon owner and master educator Sindy Mark started a nail art-focused education program called The Nail Art Academy based in San Francisco, Calif. The classes offered are designed to give students practical skills to use in their careers. According to Mark, nail techs can double their yearly salary by adding nail art to their service menu and increasing their technical and creative skillset. “I also share a lot of my professional salon experiences from the past 18 years so nail techs don’t have to make the same mistakes I did,” says Mark.

Private or small group classes are available in order to accommodate each student’s needs and learning levels. Whether it’s for beginners or advanced students, the courses cover specific topics from basic acrylic applications to 3-D nail art embedding to safe e-filing.

“Periodically the designs taught will change depending on the going nail art trends,” says Mark. “My clients in my salons keep me well aware of the popular nail art trends, but if students have particular interests, then of course we’ll move in that direction.”

Mark is also working on Beginner and Advanced Nail Art education DVDs, which will be available online and in stores. She also hopes to teach classes at shows in the future, expand the academy geographically, and develop a team of expert Nail Art Academy educators to reach more students.

Dates for classes are posted on www.thenailartacademy.com.
