A nail tech for more than 17 years, Auckland, New Zealand-based Leah Light has only been catering to celebrity clients for about a year but she’s already snagged a sweet project with celebrity blogger Perez Hilton as his nail-focused video blogger. “One of my regular clients, Zowie, is an up-and-coming music sensation, and when Perez heard her music he fell in love with her. So much so, he invited her from New Zealand to play at one of his birthday celebrations a few years back. One day, Zowie and I were talking about me contacting Perez to see if he would be interested in having an international correspondent. So late one night, I threw an e-mail together listing some of my recent accomplishments and letting Perez know I would be keen to make some videos and answer Q&As if he was interested. Within 20 minutes of my e-mail I got a positive response.”

Her first video (filmed in her home studio by herself) appeared on Perez’s site on July 21, 2011. “This was my first time making and editing videos and let me tell you it is not a quick and easy process!” Light says.  Now, she regularly receives specific video requests from Facebook fans and Twitter followers. For 2012, her focus will be on celebrity trends and answering questions. (The most common question of all time that she receives is, “How do I stop my nails from peeling or breaking?”)
