The gelatinous texture of gels can prove difficult for newbie techs to control, and when it comes to textbook C-curves, techs can be lost as to how to get that perfect bend.
Backscratchers educator Roe Van Epps of Sacramento, Calif., gives a quick tip on how she gets natural, great-looking C-curves to form themselves.
“After applying a builder or sculpting gel, turn your client’s hands over so her palms are facing the ceiling and gently tap or clap her palm with your hand — being careful not to touch the gels. Placing your client’s hands in this position for about five seconds will allow gravity to do a lot of the work for you. The weight of the product and gravity will gently shift the gel toward the center of the nail — creating a more natural-looking C-curve and arch. Keep in mind, you might have to adjust the gel after this, but the trick does work, it just takes some practice.”
