He’s gone from “Tweezerman For Congress” to “Dal LaMagna For Supervisor.” But after two grueling political races, both of which he lost, Dal LaMagna, CEO of Glen Cove, N.Y. based Tweezerman Corp., is officially retiring from political life and becoming simply “a personal grooming executive who cares.” “I got caught in a steamroller,” LaMagna say, describing the high finances of his rivals and an apathetic public that ultimately led him to his retirement decision. But much good has come from the experience. First, LaMagna says there is a newfound respect for the beauty industry. “I’ve shown the world that our industry has people who are very capable of running for and holding a public office.” It’s also brought him some friends in high places; namely, his most recent opponent, with whom he is on excellent terms. Most important, the murky .world of politics showed LaMagna that action is the best public policy. He plans to get involved with cleaning up a local Superfund area and helping to establish affordable housing there.
