On a recent trip up the Central Coast of California, my husband and I decided to stop in Ventura for a much-needed pedicure — for him. Like a lot of men, he had really neglected his feet, so I knew he needed someone extremely professional to get the job done right. I had done my homework ahead of time and made an appointment with Tami Guerrero at Coastal Pedicure. Having come from an occupational therapy background, Tami is focused on the health and well-being of her clients and is a fanatic about sanitation.
Coastal Pedicure has been in business since 2012, but just moved to its current location six months ago. The salon itself is bright and comfortable, with a beach-meets-country feel and a soothing ambience. A cute retail area filled with Farmhouse Fresh products is adjacent to the waiting area. Although the salon specializes in pedicures, there are two manicure tables and one other tech besides Guerrero who performs both manicures and pedicures using nail lacquers from OPI, Cuccio, and CND Vinylux.
Charlie was in for a treat as he settled into one of the salon’s two zero-gravity chiropractic therapy chairs, which, when reclined, take all of the weight off one’s body. He opted for the Farmhouse Fresh Spa Pedicure, which includes a warm blanket, eye pillow, cuticle care, foot soak, callus removal, Farmhouse Fresh One Fine Day Shea Sugar Scrub, and Whoopie Cream Shea Butter massage.
Most of Coastal Pedicure’s clientele are regulars, but since Ventura is a beach town, many tourists also find their way to Guerrero via Yelp. (Coastal Pedicure’s reviews are stellar.) Services range anywhere from $25 for a Coastal Express Manicure, to $95 for the Luxe Ultimate package, a two-hour manicure and pedicure that includes an extended massage and a Dead Sea mud paraffin treatment.
