The gang at Gena Laboratories (Duncanville, Texas) relates a story about Gena Scarbrough, the woman Gena Labs was named after. A burglar, in the midst of ransacking and apartment belonging to one of Scarbrough’s tenants, was met by 90-year-old Scarbrough herself, pointing a six-shooter at him. She detained the perpetrator until the police arrived. She told the News shortly after the incident. “My daddy showed me how to use a gun when I was growing up on the farm and I’m not afraid to shoot anyone who tries to rob me or my tenants. I told him, ‘I’ll shoot you if you move. But if you feel lucky, go ahead and try.’ That stopped him in his tracks, so I guess he didn’t feel lucky.”
