I am proud to say NailBar is an eco-chic nail boutique. We try our best to be environmentally conscious. We have energy-efficient lighting and we’re very conscious about our water use. We used organic paint on our walls and we recycle. We are also a paperless business. We don’t print any receipts; we e-mail them. We rarely print flyers or promotional materials; instead, we are big on social media and virtual advertising.

t the Minnesota School of Cosmetology the syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, handouts, and exams are all housed on our internal student portal to cut down on the use of paper. Every MSC student receives an iPad as part of their cosmetology kit, and all coursework and exams are done electronically. In addition, our students use the iPad on the salon floor to create different nail looks, eliminating the need for a textbook. The transition to a digital learning model has really contributed to our efforts to be more environmentally friendly.

Naomi McDonald, Minnesota School of Cosmetology, Plymouth and Woodbury, Minn.

Our eco-chic nail spa offers fresh organic products in a setting where luxury meets wellness. It is our mission to provide each client with a unique, luxurious sensory experience that is respectful to the wellbeing of the individual and of the environment. Everything in Gloss is eco-friendly. We don’t print receipts, we e-mail them. We use only recycled paper, and all our furnishings are made of recycled materials. We offer our guests filtered water served in glasses. Our complimentary coffee, tea, and wine are all organic.
