Upper class passengers aboard certain Virgin Atlantic Airways flights can receive a manicure or massage from an on-board beauty therapist at no extra cost. Jane Breeden was the first beauty therapist to begin the service in May 1990, and it has been so successful that Virgin Atlantic Airways has added two additional beauty therapists. Passengers are invited to sign up for the services when they come aboard — a beauty therapist can treat 14 to 24 passengers, depending on the length of the flight. Manicures are polish-free, so then; aren’t any fumes or unpleasant smells. Beauty therapists also give shoulder, head, and neck massage’s and offer aromatherapy oils to be placed on pulse points. Since many passengers now change their schedules to take advantage of “Jane flights,” Virgin Atlantic Airways aims to have a beauty therapist on every flight.
