OPI just made the future a little brighter for almost 100 of its employee’s children. In a festive outdoor ceremony at the company’s North Hollywood headquarters, OPI (via the Schaeffer Family Foundation, founded by OPI’s George Schaeffer) gave away 83 Gateway flatscreen computers and 18 $1,000 scholarships to deserving students. Celebrity designer Eduardo Xol of philanthropic TV show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” read out the winners’ names during the ceremony.

In order to receive a computer, the students had to submit an essay about how a computer would benefit their lives. Computer recipient Enrique Gomez read his essay aloud at the ceremony; Michelle Gonzalez, a scholarship recipient, read her essay as well. The event was capped off by speaker Cynthia Briseno, a two-time OPI scholarship recipient who just graduated from Loyola Marymount University, becoming the first in her family to graduate from college.
