It’s Payback Time for Dentists

It seems only fitting that dentists benefit from beauty industry practices when, after all, they helped to launch the nail industry. With most people looking forward to a visit to the dentist about as much as an audit from the IRS, at least one forward-looking dentist is embracing the spa concept — complete with an on-staff massage therapist—to promote the pampering aspects of dentistry.

At the Dallas Dental Spa, the “dreaded dentist’s visit” is transformed into an anticipated appointment with private treatment suites imbued with the calming scents of aromatherapy candles and the sounds of soothing music. Patients are further calmed and relaxed by licensed massage therapists who perform hand and foot reflexology using herbal lotions. After each appointment, patients of Lorin Berland, D.D.S., and Mia Williams, D.D.S., are invited into the aromatherapy room, where they can enjoy a jaw massage to relieve any stiffness, or a full, seated chair massage to relieve any lingering tension.

Of course, great-looking teeth deserve a fitting frame—hence the Dallas Dental Spa’s addition of microdermabrasion services for the face. They even carry a full retail line of skin care products so patients can maintain the service at home. Could manicures and pedicures be next? Read our article on doctor/spa partnerships.
