After 15 years as a nail technician and owner of The Nail Shoppe in Toronto, Canada, Debbie Krakalovich was due for some recognition—which is exactly what she got. Krakalovich earned the title of 1996 Nail Technician of the Year from the Canadian Hairstylists Association as part of their seventh annual Canadian Hairstylist of the Year Awards celebration. Krakalovich took home a Contessa award (her country’s answer to NAHA) for her achievement in nail enhancements. This is only the second year nails have been included in the competition. To earn this honor, Krakalovich submitted three before.
