The cocktail-themed service menu may be the main draw at The Nail Bar in Hermosa Beach, Calif., but the “Acrylics Anonymous” program is likely to catch the eye of enhancement wearers looking to “kick the habit.” Billed as “a 12-step program for healthy nails,” it is actually a series of six weekly restorative manicures that begins by soaking off the nails. The nails and cuticles are carefully tended and soaked in warm lotion. A paraffin dip follows and then a strengthener is applied before the polish. The price — $210 for six visits — includes a home-care kit and instructions to apply cuticle oil twice daily.

“Clients get very dramatic results. They report that their nails have never looked so good,” says co-owner Sherrie McCarter.
