Nailco’s Magic ’87 Dearborn Michigan

Magic ’87, the second annual “nails only” show sponsored by Nailco, was held October 11-12 in Dearborn, Michigan.

The show was attended by more than 2,500 nail technicians, students and guests from all over the country. Many technicians came from faraway just to enter the nail competitions; first prize in the Professional Sculptured Nail Competition was $1000 cash. More than 100 people competed in the four divisions.

Winners of the Professional Sculptured Nails Competition were: First place, Diana L. Ulch,; second place, Dean Olson; third place, Le Nguyen.

Student Sculptured Nails winners included: First place, Susie Ballard; second place, Carol Shunkwiler; third place, Louise While.

In the Fantasy Nail Art category, top awards went to: First place, Delores Messina; second place, Hillary Heacock; third place, Sandra Mandarino Flat Nail Art winners were: First place, Jennifer Caswell; second place, Crystal Arnold, third place, Christopher Truong.

The Grand Am Competition offered a grand prize of $3000, which went to Le Nguyen, Grand Am First place winner was Diana L. Ulch, second place, Vicki Peters; third place, Richard Villareal; fourth place, Marilia Dember.

After the award ceremonies, attendees were treated to “The Magic of Higa,” live from Las Vegas Nailco also cosponsored “Nail Visions,” a professional fashion show that tied in nails with the fashions of tomorrow. All proceeds from that extravaganza went to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
