When Trang Lê, owner of Brio Salon Nails Spa in Marlton N.J., and co-owner of Caché Salon Nails Spa in Sewell N.J., realized how many children were visiting her salon during their mothers’ appointments, she decided to create a special space just for them. “We want them to have their own room where kids can be kids!” she explains. Both salons feature Princess Lounges designed to appeal to little girls. With a background in interior design, Lê enjoyed creating an attractive space, getting ideas and concepts from her interior design classes and magazines.
Girls usually visit the salons with their moms; mothers can enjoy services in the room for adults while the girls enjoy their own services in the Princess Lounge. There is a separate menu for the little ones (the mani-pedi package is the most popular service) and nail techs are instructed to work extra gently on children’s nails.

"We marketed the lounges by word of mouth through existing customers, ads with local schools, and social media,” Lê explains. “So far, we have many requests for parties. One challenge we are facing is that the room is not big enough to host bigger parties.” Parties can range from small groups of two to three kids to as many as 10 to 12. Lê says she enjoys providing a space where girls can make childhood memories in a “child-friendly, fun, pretty salon just for little princesses.”
