The professional beauty industry has a new voice on Capital Hill and eventually in the state capitols as a result of the formation of The Professional Beauty Federation. This new organization will encourage legislation that will positively affect the professional beauty industry, while proactively fighting against negative legislation impacting industry business.

According to members of the organization, The Professional Beauty Federation will create a unified voice in Washington, D.C., to address both all-industry issues and support individual industry segments when needed.

It will strive to develop a positive view of the beauty business on Capitol Hill, as well as educating the professional beauty industry about the political process. It will aim to develop a grass-roots system to educate the public about beauty careers and opportunities, while helping the professional beauty industry become proactive, instead of reactive, in regard to issues and legislation.

The founding members of The Professional Beauty Federation represent all segments of the professional beauty industry including independent and chain salons, beauty schools, distributors, manufacturers, and manufacturers’ reps. Members include AACS, BBSI, ICSA, NACCAS, and TSA.

All other industry groups are welcome and encouraged to participate by joining the Professional Beauty Federation and/or serving on advisory committees.
