Between 2012 and 2017, nail salons will increasingly expand into full-service salons, which will allow industry operators to diversify their customer base and mitigate revenue fluctuations, according to a recent report by market research firm IBISWorld. The report (OD4411: Personal Waxing & Nail Salons in the U.S.) goes on to say this diversification will likely include a greater line of anti-aging remedies, which were a high-growth segment prior to the recession. Furthermore, the share of nail salons that also offer waxing will steadily rise over the five-year period.

IBISWorld cautions that nail and waxing salons will face increased competition from hair salons, which are also predicted to diversify their beauty and spa services to include waxing, manicures, and pedicures, as well as other beauty services like tanning, massages, and facials.
