Enjoying some team-building time with the NAILS crew.
I’m writing this note during one of the most stressful times of the year for the NAILS team. We are all gearing up for three major back-to-back shows (Premiere Orlando, Cosmoprof, and Foot Forward Summit). The team as a whole is dealing with heavier workloads and all the pressures that come from producing successful events.
In a recent interview with NTNA champion and NAILS guest editor Valerie Ducharme, she reminded me that everything happens too quickly, and that the best course of action is usually to enjoy the moment rather than dread it. After hearing this, I started to assess what I was spending my time on. I found that I was allocating a lot of time to developing back-up plans and safeguarding against worst-case scenarios. I was over-planning and under-enjoying.

As we move into the home stretch prior to Premiere Orlando, I’ve resolved to savor the moment. I am genuinely happy for our Top 3 NTNA finalists and that I get to spend quality time with them. I am also looking forward to watching Valerie Ducharme work her nail magic at the show and continuing to learn from her. It will also be a nice change of pace for the NAILS team, as we get to bond and celebrate the fruits of our labors outside of the office.
Most of all, I look forward to hanging out with all of you — our readers. If you plan on attending one or more of these shows, please come say hi. It’s your company that makes the travel and long hours all worth it for the NAILS team. We put on these events for your enjoyment, but we all come away with memories that make it worthwhile.
