Located right in the heart of Hollywood, The Painted Nail offers Angelinos and tourists alike a fun, glamorous, and sparkly salon experience. After 15 months of construction, the salon owned by entrepreneur and reality TV star, Katie Cazorla, opened its doors in October right outside the W Hotel. With service names like The Walk of Fame and The Starlet, nail techs make sure clients who stop by get the A-lister treatment.

> Cazorla personally recruited a team of eight nail techs who work as hourly employees with a 40% commission rate. Each staff member is trained in customer service, inventory tracking and ordering, and sanitation, before they get to hit the floor. “My staff is well-rounded,” says Cazorla. “They don’t just show up, do nails, and leave. Everyone can jump in at any time and run the show.”

The mini nail bar includes four custom stools facing the boulevard for a peek at Hollywood’s busy street life.

> The Painted Nail focuses on creating a safe, low-toxin environment. Walk-in customers will not find acrylic services on the menu because Cazorla says she prefers to keep the air quality clean. Nail techs use Backscratchers SeptiFile with replaceable grits and one-time use buffers to ensure clients have peace of mind and no doubts about sanitation.

To cater to gel-polish manicure demands, The Painted Nail carries ENP’s entire Gella collection.

> I opted for the salon’s most popular service, an ENP Gella gel-polish manicure ($35) in Emma, a deep burgundy base topped with Goldie, a gold flake glitter top coat for a little extra sparkle. I also indulged in a Chocolate Ice Cream Sundae pedicure treatment ($60), which includes a scoop of ice cream-scented soak, cuticle and nail care, a sherbet sugar scrub, an ice cream sandwich callus treatment, and an extended ice cream massage topped with Louboutin nail polish in Rouge.

A step-and-repeat gracing The Painted Nail’s logo is set up for clients to snap a quick picture after a service. That’s me (left) and nail tech, Chi Phan.

> More than just a salon, The Painted Nail is also a brand. The salon carries an exclusive collection of The Painted Nail products including Instant Nail Color lacquer, a peel-away protective base for gel-polish called Swatch Strips, an LED light, and Gone in a Flash remover. Other retail items include a big selection of Essie polish, Footlogix products, and an assortment of midi rings.
