“I wrote my first short story when I was 9, and I never stopped writing,” says Patrice McNeal, owner of WildSide Nailz in Los Angeles and a tech of 35 years. “Last year I digitally published my first novel, Feyling Duplicity. It was one of the most thrilling moments of my life — like when I learned how to sculpt a full set of nails and it didn’t take three days to file and shape.”

Taking a unique twist on a story of revenge, Feyling Duplicity follows an abused girl named Charlotte from her home in Ireland to London 15 years after learning she is a powerful breed of faery and that she was kidnapped by the same vampires who murdered her mother. “Enchanting faeries, seductive vampires, magic, mystery, romance, action, surprises ... it’s all in there,” she says.

This labor of love took about 10 years to complete. “Being the first of a trilogy, I hope for smoother sailing during the completion of the last two,”  she says. The hardest part of writing the book, she notes, was having to adhere to the basic principles of proper writing. “As a rule breaker by nature, I definitely pushed the envelope as I found a unique voice for my writing. The most enjoyable part, of course, was to finally write, ‘The End!’”

Feyling Duplicity is available at Amazon.com. Book, faery, and vampire fans can visit McNeal at www.facebook.com/FeylingDuplicity.
