Salon Owner Fined $4,000 for Sanitation Violations

The owner of a Dallas nail salon has agreed to pay $4,000 to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation and also agreed to a probated suspension of his cosmetology license for sanitation violations that resulted in four customers contracting bacterial infections.

California Nail Salon Legislation Vetoed by Governor

After passing both houses of the state legislature with strong bipartisan support, California Assembly bill 1263 was vetoed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. The bill would have established minimum safety standards for pedicure equipment and ensured proper protocols were followed for disinfecting all multiuse tools and equipment.
