While at the Wella International Trend Vision Awards in Barcelona, Spain, OPI co-founder Suzi Weiss-Fischmann spoke with attendees about “womenomics,” — in other words, how women drive the economy. Weiss-Fischmann shared her own personal story about becoming a businesswoman. She went from doing everything at OPI (including cleaning the floors) to being deemed the “First Lady of Nails.” Today, OPI is known for three things, she says: fashion-forward color, quality products, and iconic names. “Everyone can find something that works for them in an OPI collection,” says Weiss-Fischmann.

The nail icon revealed that it’s women who inspire her to make real, authentic products. “We make products that make you feel like you can go out and conquer,” says Weiss-Fischmann. She reminds beauty professionals that nails are a part of the body that don’t need a mirror to be seen. “Beauty isn’t perfect,” she observes about current trends. Color and beauty are, however, great unifying forces. When speaking on the connection between hair and nails, Weiss-Fischmann acknowledged the power color has to make women feel empowered. “Color serves as a visual cue to stay connected with our environment and the things we love,” she says. The Trend Vision Awards celebrated the coming together of not only Wella and OPI, but also color and beauty as they are trending in 2017.
