Nail tech Jenny Kim remembers her client Kaaren Parker Gray as a “kind lady.” In August, Gray died as a result of a heart attack, leaving Kim $50,000 in her will in recognition of her “love and devotion.” According to a September 14 story in the New York Daily News, Kim, a 60-year-old Korean immigrant, had been tending to Gray at New York City’s Echo Spa and Nail twice a week for 12 years. “She enjoyed having a massage on her hands and legs. She liked it nice and quiet so she could relax,” said Kim. She also enjoyed hearing about Kim’s children and grandchildren.

Gray’s generosity extended to the rest of her beauty team as well. In a hand-written will, coincidentally written on the day of her last service with Kim, she left bequests of $50,000 to her stylist and colorists, as well as her “favorite coat check woman” at Frederic Fekkai.
