A sleek mani/pedi lounge is the showpiece of Bliss spa’s new 7,000-square- foot facility on the second floor of the upscale W Hotel in Los Angeles. Highlights of the lounge include three movie-while-you-manicure nail stations and an actual conveyer belt that ferries clean implements to nail technicians while it whisks away the used ones.

“The conveyor belt runs all day carrying small buckets of sterilized nail tools and bottles of nail polish,” explains Bliss publicity manager Robyn Fishelson. “The technicians can reach behind themselves at the start of each treatment and take a sterilized container of tools. After the service, they put the implements in a container labeled ‘used’ and place them back on the conveyor belt so they can be sterilized in our autoclave.”
